sitting at the kitchen table Shelbey and Twyla flicked thru the photo albums of the 3 of them as they were growing up right up to the point where Kayleigh left when she was 20 year old all they could think about was the way things were, flicking thru the photos they picked out the best photos they had of the 3 of them and took them upto their room where the 3 huge gold photo frames were on the bed. putting them all out in a row they started adding them in the order they had grown up keeping on looking backwards to make sure she wasnt up yet or would walk in the tried to hurry it up."I hope she likes it she used to love looking at our photos when we were younger laughing and joking on about old times and then... and then she left and everything changed" Twyla sighed sitting on the bed.
"What happened to us 3 huh we used to be so close i just want our sister back" Shelbey muttered not hearing the door open.
"What happened to her was she lost interest in you and she wanted to spend time with that damn gunner" her mothers harsh tone rang out from the side of them as she walked into the bedroom.
"How can you say that"
"Lets face it shes never been here for you both has she, no shes been hiding herself away from everyone out the road over in the damn states instead of being with her family" their mother snapped.
"She was in love" Shelbey defended her sister.
"So are you but you never ran off to be with him leaving the family behind"
"Its because you decided you were gonna treat gunner like crap not welcome him into your home and if you had of treat Jon like that god damn it mom i would have done the same thing" Shelbey snapped.
"Excuse me?" looking shocked that her daughter would even talk to her like that she watched after her as she walked out the room.
"I'm sorry mom but im with Shelbey on this one you treat her really un fairly you and dad just couldn't have been happy for her and because of that we lost our sister" holding her tongue Twyla walked out towards the door stopping she turned back round and looked at her.
Looking up at her daughter she waited on the rest of her daughters speech coming.
"You know mom i hope you and dad realise you push her away this time we will never see or hear from her ever again" Twyla said warningly "And no offence mom but i have missed her enough so please, please you and dad ease up on her it was hard to say good bye one dont make us do it again" not letting her answer she turned back round and continued out the door. walking in to the kitchen she sat by her sisters side just in time for Jon and Richie to walk in.
"Hey baby" she smiled feeling a little happier seeing her husbands walk in with his usual warm caring smile that caught her attention in the first place.
"Hello baby thought you two would have been out with Kayleigh today"
"We are but were coming up with something for her" Shelbey explained "Did you both take any notice of her and Norum out in the pier last night?" she asked looking from jon to rich to twyla and back at jon again.
"I did" Twyla remarked "They seemed to get a little cosy out there huh? but she wouldn't go there you know she wouldn't"
"Look shes thirty coming up thirty one shes not getting any younger and well its not like she has ever let any one get that close to her i think they both like each other but it might be too late for them to do anything about it so i was thinking about trying to give them you know just a little push" Shelbey smiled getting up and sitting on her husbands knee. "What do you think huh its worth a shot besides it would be good to see that beautiful smile return that we never see any more"
Looking at both of them Richie sat on the bench and watched them carefully before saying anything.
"So what's your plan?" he eventually asked after a little pause. hearing the door go Twyla walked out to the hallway and answered it.
"Ah John just the man we wanted to see" she smirked grabbing his hand she quickly pulled him thru into the kitchen shutting the door behind them she looked at him a few minutes before starting.
"So John you had a good time last night? you know hanging with our sister"
"Yeah i actually asked her out but she's made it clear its just friendship" he replied "we sat and talked and we decided it would be a good idea to meet up again before i left for Sweden" he told her giving her a quick idea of what he had talked about to their sister.
"Well that's great" Twyla smiled "How much do you like her? i mean what do you think of her" she asked taking up a little interest.
feeling a little confused and wondering what was with the questioning he looked at them in confusion tilting his head to the side he leaned against the wall.
"Why?" he asked folding his arms across his chest.
"Nothing just making conversation" Twyla grinned looking back at Shelbey
"All right guys whats going on here? you are acting really really weird" John asked leaning against the fridge door.
"Who me? are we acting weird sis?" twyla smiled turning to face her sister again.
"Nope not at all were just the usual self nothing wrong with us" Shelbey grinned.
"Yeah ok" rolling his eyes he sat on the chair at the table and helped himself to a slice of toast on the toast rack.
about to take a bite from his toast he noticed Kayleigh in the hall way looking up he bit into his lip hard making it bleed insted of the toast as he watched her pull her running top down properly and bend over to tie her trainers up for her run. watching him from the side Shelbey nudged Twyla giggling. un aware she was getting watched Kayleigh grabbed her bottle of water and left with out saying bye to anyone. feeling the blood drip down his face john placed the bit of toast on a plate n wiped it away.
"Damn what a...."
"Woman" Shelbey laughed as he turned to look at her from looking at the plate.
"Excuse me"
"you like her dont you?" Twyla asked looking at him from across the room. "go after her"
"No way she made it clear shes not up for a relationship so i wont push it" John answered feeling a little foolish as the pain turned into a throbbing in his lower lip. "Of course i like your sister but were strangers i know nothing about her and she knows nothing about me"
"That is what a date is for mr ask her out on one and a proper one be romantic she hasnt had that in a while" Twyla joked.
"Maybe thats why shes so hard to get thru too maybe she just needs laid" Richie blurted out
"As funny as that might be mr you know all to well what kayleighs like so we do have a little bit of a problem dont we?" Twyla pointed out you know what shes like she has never wanted to be with another man in that way not since gunner passed away"
"Then we'll ...." stops n looks at John "How much do you like my sister?" Shelbey quizzed
"Shelbey i wish she would let me in her heart but its not going to happen so dont even try i would still like to be friends with her tho. any way i came here to ask if you guys wanted to join the band today were off out for the day just to relax.
"Sure why not ill call the guys up and we'll drive out with you"
"What a good idea"
"And of course you are very welcome to come along bring kayleigh" John smiled ill pick you guys up in about 2-3 hours is that ok"
"Sure see you then" waiting till he left Twyla looked at Shelbey. "you thinking what im thinking"
"Sure am" Twyla laughed "come on we'll start getting this thing up and running this is gonna be so funny it has to work"
"Yes it has to but i have every faith it will" she smiled hugging her sister before going up and getting ready to go out.
